It is time to put on your Mask and dive into the most mysterious, sexy Carnaval in this season in the Canals of Venice.
JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa
This February, one of the biggest parties in the world is hosted by Venice. This year, again, there is a magnificent atmosphere. It is a great feeling to meet the love of your life hiding behind the mysterious mask.
Carnevale Venezia 2020 started on February 8 and is coming to its grand finale on 25 February. The world-famous festival itself is said to come from the Italian words "carne" (meat) and "levare" (lifting or withdrawing). In ancient times, the Venetians went to party and feast for a long time just before the gloomy fasting of meat during the Lent period.
Today, Carnevale is still a little fancy and a great opportunity to have fun.
In the old days, masks hid citizens of the city, hidden their identity, social status, and even the sex of the user. Traditionally, they were produced with paper or leather. Original masks and costumes can be expensive; Alternatively, makeup artists from across the city offer face painting for less.
If you feel lucky, complete the free entry form to the Best Masked Costume Contest. Get the chance to win the final prize.
The locals don't have to go back in time with large Marie Antoinette-style dresses and heavy, powder wigs. Because you know what's more fun? Make your own costume.
Use your imagination; Carnival is about entertainment, colors and creativity. Be inspired by the annual theme that runs the entire festival Masks are accessories and the easiest to find costume part. You can get the masks made by Venice (mascareri). These guys know how to do magic with the paper machine, creating a completely unique (and safe to wear) piece of art.
The carnival is historically known as the period before the 40-day Lent before Easter, and is therefore considered a time especially for pampering with food. Your Carnivalesque menu starts with the queen of all sweet treats, its glamor fritella, a kind of fried, round sugar-coated muffin. They come with different fillings and their size can vary - but good ones will always have a crispy exterior. My favorites are Pasticceria Rizzardini and Pasticceria Tonolo.
